A Journey of Aski Beadworks
I was fortunate enough to learn the art of beading from my Granny Josie, who was Cree. She had a passion for beading and collected bags of colorful beads, along with leathers, furs, square needles, and a treadle sewing machine. She was a gifted artist who made a living by sewing slippers, moccasins, and gauntlet mitts. She taught me how to sew my first moccasin "vamp," which featured traditional blue and white flowers. I was hooked.
Today, I am a proud Cree woman and artist who owns ASKI BEADWORKS. All of my creations, including moccasins, slippers, vests, jewelry pieces, and mitts, utilize traditional patterns, materials, and fur I've harvested myself. I love to collaborate with my clients to ensure that their unique visions are met. Above all, I'm inspired by the land, water, wildlife, and Cree-Metis culture of the Saskatchewan River Delta.
